MTF 2008 Calendar & Hike Schedule

Hikes are on Saturdays. We leave the trail head at 8:30am, Except July, August and September. Please arrive 10 minutes early to check in and sign release forms. Dogs are welcome if they are leashed and you bring clean up supplies. For more information call Dick at 963-8858 or MTF office at (805) 568-0833. The hikes are graded by difficulty: advanced, intermediate, or easy.

 

Always bring plenty of water. Please refer to your MTF map for more trail information.

March 8

Advanced

San Ysidro Trail head on E. Mountain Drive, W. of Park Lane
Hike up SY Trail to Camino Cielo; down Cold Springs Trail, stopping at Lone Eucalyptus, across Catway to Hot Springs Trail, to McMenemy trail then back to SYT.

Distance: 10 miles, 2970 feet gain

 

April 12

Advanced

Cold Springs Trail head on E. Mountain Drive. Hike up Cold Springs Trial to Catway, east to Hot Springs Trail, up to catway, east to Girard Trail, down to McMenemy Bench, west to Hot Springs Trail, down to Hot Springs Trail head, shuttle back to Cold Springs Trail head 9miles/1500 gain.

Distance: 9 Miles, 1500 feet gain

 

May 10

Easy

Ennisbrook Trail head on San Leandro Rd. at green pump house, white picket Fence. Hike up through open space, around loop to Sheffield, San Leandro and return.

 

June 14 Easy

Parma Park Trail head on Stanwood Drive. Hike Loop around West side of park.

 

July 12

Easy/Int

The Umpteenth Annual Sunset Hike @ 5:45pm. San Ysidro Trail head on E. Mountain Drive, west of Park Lane. Hike up SY trail to McMenemy Trail (or Catway for Int. Hike), west To McMenemy Bench. You may bring refreshments to share

Distance: 3 miles/650 feet gain or 4 miles/850 feet gain

 

August 16

Easy

Padaro Beach 3:30pm (at the full moon low tide) meet at the Loon Point parking lot at the north end of Padaro Lane, Just off US 101. Hike along the beach to Santa Claus Lane And return, 4 miles.

Distance: Approximately 4 miles

 

September 20

 

Annual Fall BARBEQUE 3 hikes, easy, intermediate and advanced. Bicycle and Equestrian rides.

Location: 2800 Via Real, Carpinteria, CA

Check in for all events is at 8:30 AM, Saturday morning

 

October 11

Intermediate

Hot Springs Trail. East Mountain Drive. Trail head ¼ mile west of Hot Spring Road, Hike up Hot Springs Trail and return.

Distance: 3.5 miles/850 feet gain

 

November 8

Intermediate

Buena Vista Loop Meet at Buena Vista Trail head on Park Lane. Hike up Buena Vista Trail, west on Catway to San Ysidro Trail, Down to Old Pueblo Trail head back to starting point.

Distance: 4 miles/600 feet gain
